On-roof mechanical seaming of standing seam
Anthony S. · Pasco County
The problem
Anthony wanted metal on a simple gable barn-style slope. Snap-lock would have been cheaper. He wanted a seamed panel that does not unzip in a named storm.
What we did
Standing-seam panels with an on-roof seamer — the machine in the photo. Panels run the length of the slope. Seams closed mechanically, not with a hope and a clip.
The result
A seamed metal roof, not a snap-lock lookalike. The photo is the work, not a showroom panel.
Complexities on this job
- Seamer on a pitched roof. Layout and fall protection before the first rib is closed
- Panel length. One run eave-to-ridge means no endlaps in the field
- Oil-canning control on a wide gable. Clip spacing and a true deck
- Edge metal and foam closures so wind-driven rain does not come in under the first rib
